Individuals can be impacted by tinnitus in various ways and severity. Unfortunately, when most individuals seek medical advice about tinnitus, they are often told “You are going to have to live with it” or “There is nothing that can be done.” This can cause a sense of hopelessness and frustration.

Therefore, we have started a Tinnitus Management Program at Lemme Audiology Associates. This program has been spearheaded by our tinnitus specialist Dr. Amy Greer. Although there is no cure for tinnitus, there are many ways to manage and cope with tinnitus to get relief.

Not all tinnitus is the same. Some hear occasional sounds in their ears, some hear a sound that is constant but not distracting, and some hear a sound that interferes with almost every aspect of their lives. If your tinnitus is a disruption in your daily life and you struggle to sleep or relax, our Tinnitus Management Program would be right for you.

Before your first visit to Lemme Audiology for the Tinnitus Management Program, a packet will be sent to your home to expedite the check in process when you arrive. This packet includes a Patient Intake Form, a Tinnitus Function Index, and a Depression Screening that will be studied by Dr. Amy Greer. During your first visit, a complete in-depth case history and a comprehensive audiological evaluation will be performed. Your visit may also include a Loudness Balance test and an Increment Sensitivity test. Those with more severe tinnitus symptoms may need two visits to complete all testing that is needed.

After your testing is completed and the information is interpreted, a treatment plan will be devised so you can finally find relief from your tinnitus. Because tinnitus is often a result of hearing loss, your treatment plan may consist of prescription hearing aids.
